CHILDREN

Simple prayer moments help children grow confident with God.

Prayer grows in small moments.

When we teach our children to pray, we teach them that God is near, listening, and loving. This page helps your family create simple prayer moments—Scripture aloud, a short prayer together, and one small action your child can remember. Use the prayer card below anytime you want to strengthen your child’s confidence in talking to God.

Time: 3–7 minutes | Format: Read → Reflect → Pray → Do

What it means
Jesus welcomes children and values their faith. When we teach our children to pray, we help them learn that God is near, listening, and loving. Small prayer moments build confidence and make prayer a normal part of home life.

Pray Together
Father, thank You for our children. Help us teach them to pray with confidence and simplicity. Draw their hearts close to You, and help them know they can talk to You anytime. Give us patience and creativity as we lead them, and let our home be a place where prayer is natural and joyful. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Family Action (1 minute)
Let each child pray one short sentence (thank You, help me, bless ___). Then everyone says together: “Jesus, we love You, and we come to You.”

What it means

Prayer teaches children that God is near and that they can talk to Him about every part of their lives. They do not need perfect words or long prayers. As children learn to speak honestly with God, they begin building a personal relationship with Him and growing in confidence that He hears them.

Pray Together

Father, thank You for inviting our children to talk to You through prayer. Help us teach them that they can come to You with their questions, worries, joys, and needs. Give them confidence to pray honestly and help them understand that You hear them and care deeply for them. Let prayer become a joyful and natural part of their relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Family Action (1 minute)

Invite each child to tell God one thing they are thankful for and one thing they would like His help with today. Remind them that prayer can begin with simple, honest words.

Card 3: Learning to Pray the Way Jesus Taught Us

Scripture Anchor (NKJV): Matthew 6:9

“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.”

What it means

Jesus taught us that prayer begins by recognizing God as our loving Father and honoring who He is. Children can learn to pray by speaking to God with reverence, honesty, and trust. As they grow, they can bring their daily needs, ask for forgiveness, seek God’s protection, and learn to desire His will.

Pray Together

Father, thank You for teaching us how to pray. Help us honor You, trust You, and come before You with open hearts. Teach our children to bring their needs, concerns, and gratitude to You with confidence. Help our family seek Your will, ask for forgiveness, and depend on You each day. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Family Action (1 minute)

Read Matthew 6:9–13 together. Invite each child to choose one part of the prayer and say what it teaches us about talking to God.
