What it means
God teaches us that tone matters. A gentle response can calm tension, while harsh words multiply conflict. Prayer helps us slow down, choose peace, and speak in a way that protects the relationship.
Pray Together
Father, give us peace in our home and peace in our words. Help us slow down before we respond. Teach us to speak with gentleness and self-control, even when we feel frustrated or misunderstood. Remove harshness, pride, and anger, and replace it with humility and tenderness. Guide us toward understanding and help us make things right. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Couple Action (1 minute)
Before we talk, we each take one deep breath and say: “Lord, help us respond with peace.” Then each of us shares one sentence about how we feel without blaming.

What it means
Conflict becomes easier to resolve when gentleness leads the response. A soft answer does not mean weakness; it shows spiritual strength and self-control. When couples choose calm words instead of harsh reactions, they create space for understanding, healing, and peace to enter the conversation.
Pray Together
Father, help us answer one another with gentleness when conflict arises. Teach us to control our tone, guard our words, and respond in a way that honors You. Keep harsh words from stirring up anger in our marriage. Let patience, humility, and love guide our conversations so peace can remain stronger than conflict. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What it means
Peace in conflict requires a willing heart. God calls each person to take responsibility for the part they can control—attitude, words, humility, and response. In marriage, peace grows when both spouses stop fighting to win and start choosing to protect the relationship God has joined together.
Pray Together
Father, help us pursue peace in our marriage with humble and willing hearts. Teach us to take responsibility for our words, attitudes, and responses. Remove pride, stubbornness, and the desire to win arguments. Help us protect our relationship, seek understanding, and walk together in love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Couples Action (1 minute)
Each spouse says one peaceful response they can choose during conflict. Then say together, “Lord, help us pursue peace together.”
