Teach us to love well.

Love is shown in everyday choices—tone, patience, service, and kindness. This page helps us pray for a love that is steady, humble, and expressed in real ways. Use the prayer card below when we want to strengthen affection, tenderness, and the daily habits that keep love strong.

What it means
God defines love with action—patience, kindness, humility, and self-control. Prayer helps us return to that standard, so love stays steady, not reactive, and our relationship stays healthy.

Pray Together
Father, teach us to love like You. Help us be patient and kind with each other. Remove harshness, selfishness, and pride, and fill our home with gentleness and respect. Help us not to be easily provoked and not to keep a record of wrongs. Strengthen our love, renew our tenderness, and let our marriage reflect Your heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Couple Action (1 minute)
Each of us chooses one act of kindness to do today (encouraging words, help with a task, affection, a thoughtful check-in). Then we say: “Lord, help us love well today.”

Card 2: Choosing Kindness Every Day

Scripture Anchor (NKJV): Ephesians 4:32

“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”

What it means

Kindness is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to strengthen a marriage. Small acts of consideration, encouragement, patience, and thoughtfulness communicate love in everyday life. God calls couples to be tenderhearted toward one another, choosing grace over criticism and compassion over frustration. A marriage filled with kindness becomes a place where love can flourish.

Pray Together

Father, help us treat one another with kindness and compassion each day. Teach us to be tenderhearted, patient, and gracious in our words and actions. Help us notice opportunities to encourage, support, and bless one another. Let our marriage reflect the kindness You have shown to us through Christ. In Jesus' name, amen.

Couples Action (1 minute)

Each spouse shares one act of kindness they can do for the other today. Then say together, “Lord, help us walk in kindness.”

Card 3: Let Love Lead the Relationship

Scripture Anchor (NKJV): 1 Corinthians 16:14

What it means

Love is more than a feeling; it is a daily decision. God calls husbands and wives to allow love to guide their attitudes, words, and actions. When love leads the relationship, couples become more patient during difficulties, more gracious during disagreements, and more intentional about meeting one another's needs. Love creates an atmosphere where both spouses can thrive.

Pray Together

Father, help us make love the foundation of our marriage. Teach us to love one another with patience, humility, and grace. Let our words reflect love, our actions demonstrate love, and our decisions be guided by love. Strengthen our commitment to honor and cherish one another as You intended. In Jesus' name, amen.

Couples Action (1 minute)

Take a moment to tell your spouse one reason you are thankful for them. Then say together, “Lord, help us let love lead.”
